Yarnbombing
Get out your crochet hooks and knitting needles!
Part of the Fremont Creates celebration for April, 2026, is a Yarnbombing event, from April 2-30. We look forward to the entire Fremont Community participating.
What is Yarnbombing?
Yarnbombing is a colorful and playful form of street art that covers public objects – trees, benches, railings, etc with knitted or crocheted yarn pieces. Our goal is to create community yarnbombing, so each covered object is made up of multiple smaller crocheted or knitted squares, rectangles , circles, etc., attached to create a fun, colorful, and funky art display.
Who – We want EVERYONE to contribute to this community project - individual community members, knit/crochet clubs of all ages, faith-based groups, senior centers, scouts, and all others.
Why – Feature the creativity of Fremont residents and liven up our city.
When – We plan to have the installation in place on April 2, 2026.
Where – There will be two Yarnbombing installations, beginning on April 2, 2026:
At the corner of Civic Center Drive and BART Way.
